MBT AI pick list examples
=========================

In this zip you will find:

Top level directory
This text file you are reading.
Ai Pick lists.txt

This is the ONLY end user instruction set for AI pick list hacking.

Remember - BACK UP ALL DATA BEFORE TRYING OUT YOUR EDITS!!

2 sub directories with example AI picks.

1) A single pick list (all opponenets use the same pick list)
pick 009 - for nation 9, ie Jordan.

2) A pick list with light and heavy versions depending on opponent and year.
Pick 015 - Australia.

This has a separate light/vietnam pick list.

Each sample includes:
the example Excel spreadsheet to cut/paste the data files to/from.
(all splenning mistakes left in - this is a designers quick slap
together utility, and NOT a cuddly friendly end-user item !).

The relevant data files copied from the spreadsheet columns.

Each spreadsheet column is the data in one of the DAT files.

NB!
--
These were copied from a backup folder, and the actual pick data in
the latest version of MBT *may well have changed*. They are provided
*as examples only* !!. If you want to edit current data - copy these
from the issue MBT files. Also, some nation ID numbers may
have changed but are still the old names in the XLS. So proceed
with caution.

Use one of the example spreadsheets as a work template, changing
the descriptive data as required of course.

When cutting or pasting columns - remember NOT to paste any descriptive
column header data you put into the spreadsheet to the DAT file, or
it will really confuse the game!!. Only the numeric column data
is copied to the DAT files which work only on integers !!.

Manually editing the DAT files.
==============================

It's much better to use a spreadsheet to organise the data, but manual
edits can be used - e.g for a simple edit of say one formation number
or a points value etc.

Remember - be careful when editing in textpad or your text editor, not
to (say) delete the CR/LF at the end, thus concatentatinfg a data item.
(this one caused me most grief when weirdness happened! - the data
was reading a strange number, AND the DAT file was then 1 line too short!.)

Have fun
Andy
